SPECIAL EVENTS AT CCS
The Following is a list with descriptions of special events we have each year.
Warrior Welcome Night
This is our "Meet the Teacher" time. Families meet with Mr. Jefferson and staff to find our all the latest news and get charged up for the year! Elementary students bring in their supplies and get things set up in their classroom ready for the first day while parents have time with the teacher learning expectations for the year. Secondary students meet their teachers, receive their schedules, lockers and bring in their supplies for the year. Information and sign ups for PTF, Little Warriors & Spirit Squad will be available on this night as well.
P/T Conference Days
Parent/Teacher Conferences for the 1st and 3rd six weeks are required. Your child's teacher will contact you to schedule these. However, you may request a meeting with your child's teacher at any time you feel is needed.
Drama/ Music Fall Program
All grades are involved with putting on a program. This is typically in November just before the Thanksgiving Break. Parents will be needed to help transport students to the location of the program. This is a great time for grandparents and other family to come see the kids perform.
Christmas Parties
The last day before Christmas Break is always a half day of school in which the last hour of instruction is a Christmas Party. We invite parents to help plan, organize, and host. Contact the Homeroom teacher for additional information.
High School Finals for Fall Semester
These finals are conducted the last two days of the first semester which lands in January. High School students only will get out at noon following testing. JH nor elementary will get out early.
Homecoming & Spirit Week
Homecoming is usually in late September/early October. The week of Homecoming will be spirit week with special dress up days voted on by Student Council. Information will be sent home in advance to all families on what each day will be.
Standardized Testing
At CCS we conduct one standardized test a year. This is done in March the last 3 days before Spring Break. K5-12th will take the test. This is not a pass/ fail situation. We use the test to evaluate our curriculum. The parents will receive the results of the test. These 3 days are half days. We need parent volunteers on all 3 of these days. Please contact Administration to sign up to help.
Jr. High Spring Trips
The JH will go on a 3-day History Trips each spring. One year the trip will be the Texas History trip including Austin, San Antonio, and Washington on the Brazos. The other year will be the Vicksburg, MS trip. The teacher will invite Parents to go on the trip with us as sponsors. The cost of the trip is split into 3 month and billed January, February, and March.
9th/10th Spring Trips
The freshmen & sophomores will go on a 3-day Science trip each spring. One year the trip will be to the Davis Mountains to the observatory. The other year will be a trip to NASA & Galveston Beach. The teacher will invite Parents to go on the trip with us as sponsors. The cost of the trip is split into 3 month and billed January, February, and March.
Choir, OAP, & Athletic Awards Ceremony
This is typically the night before Field Day.
Field Day
This typically happens the Friday before the last week of school. We need as many parents to volunteer as possible. The teacher heading up the Field Day will be in contact.
Academic Awards Ceremony
This is typically the night before the last day of school.
HS Graduation
This is always the last day of school.
